El Born, Raval, Gràcia, Eixample, Poblenou or Ciutat Vella: Each neighborhood offers you a different face of Barcelona.

Use the metro, buses or tram. It is safe and efficient.
The T-casual offers 10 trips with free transfers (valid for metro, bus, and train within zone 1).
If you plan many trips, opt for the Hola BCN!
(unlimited public transport card for days).

Breakfast: from 8:00 am.
Lunch: between 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm.
Dinner: from 8:30 pm (although many restaurants open earlier).
Shops usually open from 10:00 am to 8:30 pm, Monday to Saturday. On Sundays many are closed.

Most places accept cards. Even so, it is useful to carry some cash for small shops or markets.
ATMs are available throughout the city.

Barcelona is generally safe, but watch out for pickpockets, especially in tourist areas (La Rambla, metro, markets).
Use crossbody bags and do not leave valuables unattended on tables or chairs.

Catalan and Spanish are spoken. In tourist areas, most people speak English.
Signs are in both languages, but menus are usually available in English or French as well.

Not mandatory, but appreciated if the service was good.
5–10% is sufficient in restaurants.
